Do you have a question or topic you would like to discuss during the Q&A?
Meditation is associated with reduced stress, improved mental health, positive outlook, cardiovascular health, better immune regulation and a reduction in both acute and chronic pain! When we train yoga teachers to work with arthritis and chronic pain, we insist that meditation is at least as important as all of the movement and poses. While chronic pain has been shown to decrease gray matter in the brain, meditation actually increases it! It improves your brain’s ability to manage pain and your nervous system’s pain signaling process. And best of all, you don’t have to understand any of the science to experience the benefits.
Unfortunately, many people living with arthritis and chronic pain can’t imagine sitting cross-legged on the floor, or sitting still in any position as a positive experience. Yoga for Arthritis wants to change that!
For the first time, we are offering a 8-week meditation course, live online. We will meet online for one hour each week in a supportive community. Anyone and everyone is welcome, no matter your diagnoses or limitations. If you have a conscious mind, you can meditate! You are also welcome if you want to learn more about teaching meditation to people with arthritis and chronic pain.
Each week, we will explore a different approach to meditation. There will be some teaching, practice, discussion, and time for questions. You’ll also get a meditation recording each week to practice in between sessions, and optional reading material for those interested in better understanding each practice.
By the end of 8 weeks, you will have developed a daily meditation practice and will have the knowledge and skills necessary to continue on your own. Whether you're a beginner or have experience meditating, this course will offer a variety of tools and strategies to practice with greater comfort and ease.
Imagine how life might be different if you had a new tool to manage pain that also helped improve stress and positive outlook. We look forward to guiding you on your journey.
